Linear Medical Accelerator
The evolution and development of the Center has for more than 40 years followed a course from fundamental and technological research to applied nuclear power engineering and various peaceful applications of nuclear technologies understood in the broadest sense. Our field of expertise has for more than 30 years been the precision electron accelerators, in particular accelerators used by oncology therapists. Some technologies developed at us were also successfully applied in research conducted within the European Center of Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva, Switzerland and we continue to supply CERN with various unique devices.
Accelerator Coline 4
Low energy accelerator Coline 4 has been designed having in mind efficient irradiation of breast, head and neck tumors. Its purpose, together with compact and rigid construction, makes it suitable replacement for cobalt units, assuring lower skin doses, more profitable dose distributions, considerable smaller penumbra and better quality of portal images due to smaller radiation source size. Provided 4 MV beam ensures higher tumor control probability (TCP) in case of irradiating superficially laying cancer cells, reducing exit dose delivered to normal tissues (normal tissues complication probability, NTCP) at the same time. Low energy of photon beam minimizes the effect of dose build-up behind air cavities (such as in the head and neck) which is of concern when the target volume is in their vicinity. Additionally, 4 MV beam restrains necessity of preparation and realization of treatment plans with bolus materials placed on the patients’ skin.
Accelerator Coline 4 ensures precise and stable irradiation with use of fully digital beam control system. Patients safety is assured by fulfilling international requirements established by IEC standards and confirmed by CE mark. Striving for highest quality of our products we are continuously improving our equipment. As a result of this trend functionality of this reliable accelerator has been extended. Coline 4 is now available with multileaf collimator (MLC), asymmetric collimator with jaws moving through the beam axis, interface for communication with external record and verify system (R&V) and electronic portal imaging device (EPID) as an option.
accelerator Coline 10
Fulfilling international standards requirements, Coline 10 medical accelerator, provides photon and electron beams irradiation with energy from 6 up to 10 MeV. Right now with the option “portal imaging” and with the possibility of connection to radiotherapy management system. Strengthened mechanical construction assures high irradiation precision. Fully digital control system, which provides permanent monitoring of radiation beam, guarantees security of patients and machine operators. The newest version of software conducts precise control of radiation beam based on signals compensated for temperature and pressure, which ensures stability, high reproducibility and proportionality. The significant advantage of Coline 10 are the smallest dimensions in comparison to competitive linacs, therefore it does not require a lot of place in a bunker.
Accelerator Coline 15
designed with advanced technologies to deliver radical and special procedures radiotherapy with energy from 6 up to 15 MeV and high dose rate. Equipped in portal imaging system, asymmetric collimator, communication interface for management and verification system and optionally in multileaf collimator, assures high precision and stability of irradiation
Department of Nuclear Equipment HITEC NCBJ is a unit integrated into the Nuclear Research Center, located in Swierk about 30 km from Warsaw. The evolution and development of the Center has for more than 40 years followed a course from fundamental and technological research to applied nuclear power engineering and various peaceful applications of nuclear technologies understood in the broadest sense. Our field of expertise has for more than 30 years been the precision electron accelerators, in particular accelerators used by oncology therapists. Fairly wide range of products offered by us includes, among others: linear electron accelerators for medical and food-processing applications, X-ray therapy simulators, therapeutic tables, automatic shielding doors, radiation detectors, accelerating structures for linear accelerators, ion implanters. Our products have been installed in many European countries, as well as in South America: about 70% of our production is exported.
Diversity of our business, technical capabilities and flexibility of the personnel at our disposal enable us to respond rapidly and adapt to any particular demands of our customers e.g. by:
